Trellis Commercial Use
Hey so I just wanted to ask, are the models generated by this trellis space free to use commercially?
Are you asking me? I don't understand.
I am asking anyone that sees this and would know the answer
The Space files don't contain a LICENSE file, the weights it's using are under MIT, and the GitHub code is also under MIT. They treat this model as "solely for academic and research purposes", but I don't think this claim overrides the more legally binding license the code and the weights are shipped with.
What they're trying to tell is "Do whatever you want with this but don't make us liable if someone comes and questions you about the data used to train the model".
I personally think it's a decent grey-ish area to use the model commercially, especially given that the alternatives are either noticeably worse in quality or have a license that straight-up bans its usage in half the world.
Edit: It's not suitable for commercial use, more on that here: Can this be used commercially?
