Driverless cars are exaclty what you would expect them to be. Cars that will drive without a person actually behind the wheel controlling the actions of the vehicle. The idea of driverless cars going in to developement shows the amount of technological increase that the wolrd has made. The leader of this idea of driverless cars are the automobiles they call Google cars. The arduous task of creating safe driverless cars has not been fully mastered yet. The developement of these cars should be stopped immediately because there are too many hazardous and dangerous events that could occur.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
One thing that the article mentions is that the driver will be alerted when they will need to take over the driving responsibilites of the car. This is such a dangerous thing because we all know that whenever humans get their attention drawn in on something interesting it is hard to draw their focus somewhere else. The article explains that companies are trying to implement vibrations when the car is in trouble. Their are some people out there who do not feel vibrations and therefore would not be able to take control of the car when needed. The article also states that companies are trying to put in-car entertainment into the car while it is being driven. This is just another thing that will distract the person who is supposed to be ready at all times to take over driving when asked to do so.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
Another thing that can go wrong with these cars is any type of techological malfucntion. Every person with any kind of technological device has experienced some sort of error. Now imagine if your car has an error technologically and it takes the life of one your loved ones. The article talks about sensors around the car that read the surroundings of the car and that is what helps he car to drive without a true driver behind the wheel. Those sensors could have a malfunctions and be sensing something that is that even there and make a left turn into a 100 foot deep lake. The vibrations that cause the driver to be notified to drive could malfunction and now the driver has no way of knowing that the car is in trouble and now you, the driver, and the rest of your passengers are being buried in your local cemetery.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
One last thing that the article mentions is negative about the developement of driverless cars is who to blame for the wreck if there were possibly some sort of technological malfunciton or even some sort of human error when taking over the driving aspect. Should the manufacturer of the car be blamed or should it be the driver? No one knows because there is so many different factors that attribute to who to assign the blame to. Some of what will have to be made is a judgement call. When it comes to insurance and having to pay for any damages you do not want someone to have to make some sort of judgement call. What if that judgement call that was made was the wrong call? Now there are going to be even more lawsuits today in our courts than there already are. This problem alone will just lead to many more issues today in the world that should not have to be dealt with.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
With all these things that could possibly go wrong with these driverless cars there is no way that the developement of them should continue any further. In today's society if something bad COULD happen or something COULD go wrong, it WILL happen, and it WILL go wrong. There are just way too many safety hazards that come along with these driverless cars. Becuase of all of these problems that arise with the cars it is just a gargantuan risk to implement these cars into our lifestyles.

Dear: Principal
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
I am arguing against the policy change because even though there are some children out there that really needs help with their academic work, that does not mean that only because they have a c average that would not let them enjoy their sports or other activities unless they've a B average.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
Sometimes teachers or even principal needs to consider that we should give the help that any student should have. Also this may consider student self as steam. Meaning student would start to feel sad nervous, and not wanting to go to school because of the reason they have a low averages and they can not participate in other activities or sports. The fact that there are children that would want to enjoy many good things the school is actually giving it to them.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
We would want to make changes as, "like to be a better person for a better tomorrow" This supports the idea of having have many good thoughts and incasing your work as much as possible. In some situation like arguing we should make a vote to see if kids would want to have a school policy of change and having to participate in fun activities but they first need to have at least a B average. Some reasons I would be against the school policy change is because you would feel ashame and then many bad things could happen meaning, you would be angry etc. In additionally , I think that student should have sports because it helps them with their health, and problems that they would have personal. I am against this policy change.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
Sincerely,
|
10 |
+
|
11 |

Student.

I think that students would benefit from learning at home, because they wont have to change and get up early in the morning to shower and do there hair. taking only classes helps them because at there house they'll be pay more attention. they will be comfortable at home.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
The hardest part of school is getting ready. you wake up go brush your teeth and go to your closet and look at your cloths. after you think you picked a outfit u go look in the mirror and youll either not like it or you look and see a stain. Then you'll have to change. with the online classes you can wear anything and stay home and you wont need to stress about what to wear.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
most students usually take showers before school. they either take it before they sleep or when they wake up. some students do both to smell good. that causes them do miss the bus and effects on there lesson time cause they come late to school. when u have online classes u wont need to miss lessons cause you can get everything set up and go take a shower and when u get out your ready to go.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
when your home your comfortable and you pay attention. it gives then an advantage to be smarter and even pass there classmates on class work. public schools are difficult even if you try. some teacher dont know how to teach it in then way that students understand it. that causes students to fail and they may repeat the class.

It is every student's dream to be able to lounge around at home, and complete school from the comforts of their own beds. Though, for some students, this long desired fantasy is becoming a reality. With the introduction of new and innovative technologies into the classroom, distance learning is now a common practice, whether it be online or through video conferencing. However, to pretend that this is a solution to the ever-growing problems within the education system, is willfully ignorant. Distance education is actually detrimental to the students who choose to take these courses, due to the lack of typical classroom structure.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
Everybody knows somebody like this in their lives; a homebody, someone who prefers staying home over going out, maybe doesn't have too many friends or has trouble forging bonds and building relationships. You may also call these people recluses, or shut-ins, but either way, you've stumbled across someone who fits this mold. Favorite characters even, like Oscar the Grouch or Angela from The Office, can be used as lovable examples. However, these traits are not always so endearing in a young child. Kids who display anti-social tendencies or simply wish to stay home and away from the hustle-and-bustle of the outside world would prefer distance learning undoubtedly. But, they would then forfeit the opportunity to build relationships with other kids of their own age. Especially with younger kids and kids who like to stay at home or be alone, learning and building social skills starts at school. If these children have the option to conduct their learning from home, they will miss out on important interactions with classmates, and also fall behind from a social development standpoint. And not knowing or understanding social cues or the proper way to communicate with someone, will prove a major hindrance to these kids in later years.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
Another negative aspect of distance learning is the lack of discipline. Having a friend who is online-schooled, who admits frequently that he has ample free time, which he wastes on playing video games and watching TV, while at the same time, students in the classroom are made to do tedious book-work, is very eye-opening to a pressing issue. Students who take classes online have more time to slack off and goof around, and for the less-disciplined child, this will reflect negatively in their grades. However, some people will raise the point that there are distractions within in the classroom and students will slack off anyway, if they so desire. This is a valid observation. But without the constant droning of a teacher to be on task, kids who are distantly educated are more likely to become distracted and it's displayed in their meager and unsatisfactory work. Distractions don't cease to exist in a classroom setting, but they are heavily reduced compared to when a student is at home.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
It's easily understandable that for some students, distance learning is simply the only viable option. Whether they physically cannot make it to the school building, or because their school merely doesn't offer the classes they wish to take, sometimes students are more or less forced to take online classes. And this is completely acceptable and understandable, and no one should fault these students for desiring an education and seeking out alternative options. However, these circumstances aren't always applicable to the students who choose distance learning. And those students, who have no other reason other than they "just want to stay home" or "don't feel like it", should have to sit in a classroom with the rest of their peers, and learn like in the same setting and environment that everyone else does. For lazy students, distance education is not a valuable resource, and abused in order to waste time.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
Distance education will most likely always be a hotly debated topic, in which both sides of the argument will raise many deeply introspective and thought-provoking questions and points. In some cases, distance education is necessary and important. However, it cannot be ignored that distance learning is not conducive or beneficial to most students. The lack of a normal classroom set-up, with teachers and classmates replaced for a laptop and a of couple blankets, fails to help students develop vital social and communication skills, while simultaneously aiding in the slacking off and wasting time of many students. All in all, distance learning and education isn't an appropriate replacement for a normal education that is received in a classroom, at a desk.

I heard you are considering changing the schools policy so that the students may not participate in sports or other activities unless they have at least a grade B average. I think that's crazy! If kids don't have and opportunity to play a sport because of their "C" that's no reason to take away their dream. What if they want to become a professional swimmer? You're just going cut down their dream tree just because of a "c'?
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
I have a "C" in math, and swim is coming up-you're just going to take away my chances to beat my times from last year? I could grow up and become something amazing and thank you one day for the opportunity of being able to swim, but now you have taken my-and other swimmers "the ride away". I am appalled.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
I know if you do intend to proceed in changing the policy we students will try to get better grades to play the sport, but not every kid has a GPA of 4.0. So their for i propose my idea to keep the policy that you just have to have a 2.0! Seriously, as my 6th grade teacher told me, "something is better than nothing". Sure you want us to have good grades but us kids,(teens) want to be involved in school activities but with or with out good grades i think if they strive hard enough they deserve the right to be involved.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
Thank you for you're time i hope you rethink about changing the schools policy so that students MAY participate in sports and other activities even if we have a "C" average. I'm sure i' m not the only student that would like to propose this statement.

Dear TEACHER_NAME,

2 |

3 |

I agree 100% with you. i think in order to be on a team sport you will have to have you grade up to a B. I think that because its not fair to the teachers if all you think about is sports and your grades are going down in school but you are doing sports. That telling the teachers you just don't care. Also i think its unfair to the other students that you are on the soccer team but have grades that are failing and you miss practice all the time because you have detention. Its fair do have the honor students play for are school even if there not the best in the school. Also its unfair to you. You will have bad grades but do well in sports. You should do a activity i agree with that but only if your grades are high. Why would you want bad grades? you should pass. Also it just doesn't seem right. Or you could get a scholarship into a college for sports but it wouldn't boost your grade up all the way to get in a great college. So that's why i think its important school before sports. and have an A or B for grades so you can do sports

Dear Principal,
|
2 |

|
3 |

Our school should have a community center. The reasons why, are so students can learn what our community needs, how to make our community better place, and why is community important for students to know. Its a great to have a community center to know how we can make things better.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
Students think community center takes their time away. but they have to learn what our community needs. students will participate in a group of students making a list what our community needs, therefore students will learn what our community needs! students will present their list of things our community needs! due to that students will be giving extra credit for the ones who have low grades!
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
Some students don't participate because their friends say its waste of time. it would not be waste of time when you get to know how our community can be a better place for us. students should know that the program is about our own lives, because if our community is bad well our lives are going to be bad. due to that students will want to participate and will want to make our community a better place for us.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
some student might say why is the community important anyways, were fine nothing is wrong. but when get to know what our community is, they would want to know about and would want to participate and know why is our community important. students will receive a good grade if they participate in this community because is like an extra credit. due to that their friends would want to enjoy the program because their friend told them about it.
|
10 |
+
|
11 |
+
so principal the community center will be a great place for students to learn lots of things. so i guess this will be a good idea for our school. students will learn what our community needs, how to make our community a better place, and why is our community important!

Millions of students from various cultures and locations have a common distaste for school. Many of them confidently argue that learning from home would be much more comfortable and conducive to their learning, for they would not be limited by the pressures of an academic atmosphere, which include intimidating teachers, competitive classmates, and uncomfortable classrooms. Although many believe that students would benefit from attending classes from their homes, students would, in reality, be negatively affected by distance learning, for they would be deprived of social interactions, hands-on experiences, and personalized guidance from teachers.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
Through online schooling, students would not be allowed opportunities to interact with their peers, inhibiting the development of their social skills. Instead of collaborating with their classmates, students enrolled in online schools would have to complete assignments independently, limiting the sharing of ideas. Without the opportunity to share and discuss ideas, students would not be able to develop significant social skills, which include patience, open-mindedness, and the ability to peacefully collaborate.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
Without such skills, the students would be at a great disadvantage in future endeavors requiring teamwork, which are commonly presented throughout adulthood. Without physically attending school, students would exhibit delays in social development, severely impacting their future affairs.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
Additionally, distance learning does not allow for the same hands-on experiences as physical schooling does.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
In traditional science classes, for example, students participate in laboratory investigations regarding pertinent aspects of their studies. Through such activities, students are allowed to apply their knowledge and reasoning skills to create memorable understandings of the investigated topics.
|
10 |
+
|
11 |
+
Online schools, however, cannot offer such activities, confining students to less involved and therefore less effective means of learning. Without interactive activities, students of online schools would not be able to obtain enduring understandings of learned concepts, ultimately limiting their educational horizons.
|
12 |
+
|
13 |
+
Furthermore, online schooling deprives students of personalized experiences with instructors. In physical schools, students can casually ask their teachers for assistance and instantaneously receive aid. Through online schooling, however, teachers are not as accessible, for students are only able to contact their instructors during a specific time frame. Without readily available guidance from an instructor, students would be unable to receive convenient, understandable explanations of troublesome topics. Without such guidance, content would be much more challenging to comprehend, ultimately impairing the students' academic capabilities. Due to the lack of access students would have to their teachers, online schooling would not be conducive to academic success.
|
14 |
+
|
15 |
+
Overall, while online schooling would allow more comfort for the students, it would greatly inhibit their academic affairs, for they would not have access to crucial aspects of educational development, including social interaction, interactive experiences, and individualized relationships with educators. Without these fundamental components, students would not acquire lasting, solid educations, limiting their career possibilities and therefore the quality of their lives.
|
16 |
+
|
17 |
+
To optimize the educational as well as general quality of future generations, physical schooling must be promoted rather than the attendance of school from home.

Hi, i'm Isaac, i'm going to be writing about how this face on Mars is a natural landform or if there is life on Mars that made it. The story is about how NASA took a picture of Mars and a face was seen on the planet. NASA doesn't know if the landform was created by life on Mars, or if it is just a natural landform. On my perspective, I think that the face is a natural landform because I dont think that there is any life on Mars. In these next few paragraphs, I'll be talking about how I think that is is a natural landform
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
I think that the face is a natural landform because there is no life on Mars that we have descovered yet. If life was on Mars, we would know by now. The reason why I think it is a natural landform because, nobody live on Mars in order to create the figure. It says in paragraph 9, "It's not easy to target Cydonia," in which he is saying that its not easy to know if it is a natural landform at this point. In all that they're saying, its probably a natural landform.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
People thought that the face was formed by alieans because they thought that there was life on Mars. though some say that life on Mars does exist, I think that there is no life on Mars.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
It says in paragraph 7, on April 5, 1998, Mars Global Surveyor flew over Cydonia for the first time. Michael Malin took a picture of Mars with his Orbiter Camera, that the face was a natural landform. Everyone who thought it was made by alieans even though it wasn't, was not satisfied. I think they were not satisfied because they have thought since 1976 that it was really formed by alieans.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
Though people were not satified about how the landform was a natural landform, in all, we new that alieans did not form the face. I would like to know how the landform was formed. we know now that life on Mars doesn't exist.

In life all of us suffer many trials and obstacles of different extremes. As humans a normal way to deal with these trials is to look to someone for comfort and advice. Whether that may be many people or just one person it is usually someone we confide in with our thoughts and someone that can confide in us to be able to tell the truth. At times, we may find it better to talk to more than one person when asking for advice. We may go to one person to get an outside opinion on the situation. By getting this outside opinion this person may not necessarily be biased to one side of the story and it gives this person a chance to be truthful. You may also go to someone who has a different way of thinking as you, someone with a different mindset. This person could bring up new points to you and new sides of the situation to open up your mind to new possibilities. There might also be someone who has a similar way of thinking as you that could help you reassure and understand your thoughts and emotions. Another reason why you may go to a different person is just to vent. By simply telling this person everything thats going on it could help you organize thoughts in your own head. You may not look for this person for advice but someone to be there to listen to you while you figure out how you want to move forward in the situation. By expressing your feelings to this one person it could help you organize and address thoughts in your own head. By asking for advice from multiple people it could help you explore different mindsets, get an outside unbiased opinion, and give you a chance to express and organize your thoughts and emotions.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
At times in stressful situations or in situations where you simply need advice it may be better to talk to a distant friend or an adult who isn't exactly in the loop of things that are happening in your life. Talking to someone to get an outside opinion could help because this person doesn't know all parts of the story or maybe doesn't know everybody involved personally. This is helpful because they have no sense of bias on who is involved and what is happening in the situation. This person isn't going to sugar coat their words and tell you the truth even if it's something that you don't want to hear. They may simply listen to what you have to say and will already be ready to introduce to you new opinions and will help you look at it from a different perspective. They may tell us the truth to address the things we may be avoiding in the situation such as something that is right or wrong. This helps us because sometimes we need to hear the truth to see why we are right or wrong in these situations. By hearing the truth and possibly getting advice to move forward you get to move forward with all your facts laid out.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
Another type of person that you may seek for advice is someone who you know has a different mindset than you and maybe even someone who has a similar mindset than you. By talking to someone who has an opposing mindset as yours they will be able to give you new perspectives and new ways at looking at the situation. It may not always be a positive mindset but it's good to look at the negatives just as much as the positives. This persons different way of thinking and looking at things may introduce new and different ideas on how you should move forward and how you should address the situation. You may also seek someone who has a similar way of thinking as you. Theres always a possibility of this person help you discover new thoughts and information but this person will also assure you about the thoughts youre already having and make you feel better about them. They will give you this sense of reassurance it will help you move forward confidently and effectively.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
The last type of person you may seek for advice is someone who is a good listener. This person will listen to everything you have to say and will just let you vent all your emotions and that may be the only advice they give you to just vent. This person will not only listen but support you on your choices and on what you have to say no matter what. By venting to this person it could help you organize your thoughts by simply expressing them all out loud. It is likely that it may even help you come to realizations you hadn't come to before. This person is very important when going through this stressful process of not knowing what to do of getting that reassurance that everybody needs from time to time. This person may or may not be the best person for advice but they are really good of being there when you need them and listening to you when you are going through a stressful. By expressing and addressing these thoughts it could help you move forward content with your thoughts and confident on your decisions.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
In conclusion, I think that by seeking more than one person for advice it helps you get the support you need to make new and smart choices. Different people that are helpful to seek advice from is someone who is more of an outside opinion because they tell you the truth and dont sugar coat their thoughts. If you seek someone who has a different mindset they will introduce new ways of thinking and different approaches you could take in the situation.
|
10 |
+
|
11 |
+
By expressing all your feelings, thoughts, and emotions you are letting someone know how you feel and getting the support you need to move forward confidently. By talking to multiple people exploring new thoughts and mindsets, getting an unbiased opinion, and being able to express and organize your thoughts you are getting set up to make good choices rationally. I personally believe that when someone asks multiple people for advice it and seeking multiple opinions it helps them be able to make smart and rational choices while being confident with their choice and content with their thoughts and emotions.

Dear Principal,
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
I believe you should use policy 1 allow students to bring there cell phones to school.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
As long as they use them at lunch or break or any free time during the school day and have them turned off before they come to class.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
the reason i chose this policy is because what if a student has an emergency during school like they get sick or get hurt something like that. If you had policy 1 then they could call their parents and get taken home to be cared for i know there are plenty of times when i didn't feel well and i wanted to go home. I could have used my phone but i couldn't because we are not allowed to use our phones at school only after school.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
There is a possibility that some students wouldn't follow the rules about putting there phones away in class and teachers can take them away and they can get them at the end of class or the end of the day if this becomes a problem you can always consider changing the rules to policy 2 don't allow students to have there cell phones at all at school.
|
10 |
+
|
11 |
+
people at school also need to use there phones after school to have their parents pick them up or if there parents cant they wouldn't have any way of reaching them. that's after school but sometimes they need to tell them during school so if they send a text during class they could cheek it at lunch or after class. that's why i would prefer to use policy 1 but you can always change it if it gets out of hand.

Limiting the usage of cars has personal and professional support all across the globe and yet it has yet to be embraced everywhere. Statistical proof show where it may help and real life examples of some of the effects of reducing, or getting rid of altogether, cars in one's daily life. While "recent studies suggest that Americans are buying fewer cars, driving less and getting fewer licenses as each year goes by" (Source 4), is that really enough or for the right reason? There are plenty of reasons to stop, or limit, the amount of cars being driven on the roads for every kind of person, from the hippie to the businessman, from the mom to the college student. With so many things in this world that few people agree on, this is a nice change to see in regards the removal of so many cars. Why would they all agree, one might ask. Well, there are plenty of reasons.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
For starters, stress. It is no secret that morning traffic jams and 5'o'clock traffic is often enough to send any driver into a fit of unadulterated rage and what better way is there to prevent that than to simply not drive at all? Mother and media trainer, Heidrum Walter attested to this after moving into a mostly car-less community, claiming "when [she] had a car [she] was always tense. [She's] much happier [that] way" (Source 1). If that were not enough, businessman Carlos Arturo Plaza who participated in the Day Without Cars in Bogota, Colombia, after just a day was able to say "it's a good oppurtunity to take away stress" (Source 3). Just one day was enough to de-stress this man and if that does not speak wonders, one has to wonder what does. The event "[left] the streets of [Bogota] eerily devoid of traffic jams" (Source 3), which goes to show how stressful it was everyday, with traffic jams a common occurance. No one enjoys them, so why continue to suffer through them?
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
Additionally, the environment suffers greatly from the many car emissions let out on the roads. "Passenger cars are responsible for 12 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in Europe ... and up to 50 percent in some car-intensive areas in the United States" (Source 1). This alone should be enough to horrify anyone out of such copious amounts of car usage. If that were not enough, "transportation is the second largest source of America's emissions" (Source 4). It is clear that cars are only doing more harm to this earth all humans live on and happen to only have one of, so there is no need to continue on knowing this without changing something about that. Even car-pooling could significantly reduce emissions as there would be less cars out there, which is possible through "more flexible commuting arrangements, including the evolution of shared van services for getting to work" (Source 4).
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
Of course, adding the last two reasons together makes for another very important factor in all of this: everyone's general health. Both stress and high concentrations of smog can do a toll on one's body and the reduction of cars, once again, helps to reduce this terrible down-sides to the easy transportation option. If it must be described as "emissions ... are choking cities" (Source 1), then why not be a bit more concerned. Air pollution can affect those with pre-existing respitory issues and stress can be a deciding factor in how effient and well a person can function. Stress on the road can lead to unsafe driving and a worse performance at work, school, or any other task-oriented location that many go to with the aid of a car.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
It is also worth noting that cities that have embraced a no car lifestyle such as Vauban or Bogota have generally improved as a community and have given back anything the newly car-less citizens may have been missing out on through saving them time and money. In Vauban, "stores are placed a walk away, on a main street, rather than in malls along some distant highway" (Source 1). This is not only much more cost-efficient, but also convienent. This is saving both time and money, just like in Bogota where "parks and sports centers [] have bloomed throughout the city; uneven, pitted sidewalks have been replaced by broad, smooth sidewalks; rush-hour restrictions have dramatically cut traffic; and new restaurants and upscale shopping districts have cropped up" (Source 3). Not only does this help individual citizens and business owners, it helps the overall economy of the city as well.
|
10 |
+
|
11 |
+
Individual car use isn't bad. Millions of individuals using cars, however, is very bad. Note the emphasis. Even just making a concious effort to car pool, bike to work or school, use public transportation, or use some sort of alternative transportation could be enough to clear up the air of some of it's emissions, keep oneself and others happier and less stressed, save time and money, and improve their city all in one little decision. It's just a matter of going ahead and doing it, so what is stopping anyone from going out and making that change now? Be the change you want to see and limit your car usage now.

Dear Florida senator,
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
I would like disuss why changing up the way we voyte today is not as bad f an idea as it sounds. Changing to elections by a popular vote sounds like its in the peoples hands instead of juts casting out votes on the slate electors. Aren't we voting for our president. innstead of countting onn the electoral votes to hep out or, go against out favor, it'd be much more easier to just let the people vote.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
The elctoral votes are utterly useless or unimportant, though. If there is ever happens to be a tie between the two candidates the electoral votes can help break it. It'd be less of a hassle to have the florida residents vote, directly, on someone besides the president. Less worring about if theyre going to win or not. Now when you start to think about it the electoral college is just unfair an pretty outdated,if you ask me. Change doesn't sound that bad. All im trying to achive by writting this, is to gain actual control over who we're all voting for.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
It's also not just what's completely wrong with the electoral college but how does it help in the first place? When you start analizing it, it really doens't help much. How much actual help can the lectora coellge make, in my defense not much. Why? Simple, its just 20-30 more votes and not many states have that much Hawaii has uop to 4 electoral votes, not much. Voters should be alowed to directly vote for who they want to be president and not rely on the lectoral college.

Should computers read the emotional expressions of students in a classroom? No because, why should a computer know how your feeling? It wouldn't change the emotion the students feeling. It also wouldn't help with the students education. Its over all just a waste of time.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
The process begins when the computer puts together a 3-D digital model. There are 44 major muscles in your face that the computer has to detect. Eckman classified six emotions happiness, surprise, anger, disgust, fear, and sadness. He then " associated each with characteristic movements of facial muscles."
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
For example the frontalis pars lateralis muscle is above your eye which shows your surpried when it is raised.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
Us humans alone can identify facial expressions on peoples faces. If you look at a friend you can tell how they are feeling at that moment. Da Vinci studied human anatomy to help paint the facial muscles percisely on the Mona Lisa painting. Dr. Huangs has new computer software it stores similar info as electronic code. He thinks there could be a different type of code to the painting.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
When facial facial expressions a made its about muscular action units. The school computer shouldn't have to know how you are feeling. What kind of problem is that supposed to solve? This idea is nothing but just a distraction for school students. It also may detect wrong facial expressions.
|
10 |
+
|
11 |
+
To conclusion computers in school shouldn't detect emotions of the students. I have proved my point on why it shouldn't be in school. I have given you several examples from the passage to prove this point. It shoudn't matter if the computer knows how your feeling.

I think that it wouldn't be valueable to have technology be able to read emotions because the fact that its really easy for someone else to get into your phone or tablet through face reconition. People use face reconition alot and it can be a quicker way to get into your tablets and phones or any other electronics, but people can easily crack into the electronic and take any personal infomation that they need. I mean electonic ability to read people's emotions is cool and all, and its a huge next step into newer tecnology for the future, but the fact that you know say you needed to be happy to get into your phone, some one else can act happy and, well unlock your phone.
|

3 |

In paragraph six the article talks about how they could make different ads show if you were happy or frowning. That could be good but if your watching, like youtube or videos and an ad shows, your going to want to keep watching your video and not the ad. If a person is watching a show and an ad pops up and they smile, then it shows another ad that the person didnt want to see because they wanted to keep watching thier show. I think people would be angry if that happen, because not a lot of people like ads. Ads can be good for promotion of products, but i think we all know when your playing a game on your electronic device that you want to keep playing or watching and not the ad.

The reasons why i said that this would be unvalueable is because the reason of security, like anything could go wrong because everything in technology can be unexpected. thats why i chose the reasons I did.

Asking multiple people for advice can very heavily influence how you may act on certain topics. Receiving advice from multiple people is not such a bad thing as it may seem. Receiving advice from multiple people is good because it can influence your decision, teach you more about the topic, and more points of view on the topic.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
Getting more peoples' opinions can heavily impact your decision. Having more opinions means more choices you can choose. This means that the more options you have, the easier it is to do the right thing. Others' opinions can stop you from doing the wrong thing. When they tell you their end it may impact you and stop you from doing something you wouldn't have wanted to do. Others' opinions can also show you what consequences there might be for your actions. They might tell you the possibilities of what might happen when you say that. People opinions can greatly impact what you do.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
Another way getting multiple opinions helps is that is can teach you more about the topic. If you know more about the topic its easier to do the right choice. When you know more its way easier to just do the right thing since you know a lot about the topic already. If you know more about the topic it also helps you give other people advice on the same topic. This can help because in the future, you can help people who were in need of advice just like you. There is always more room for improvement academically, physically, and mentally. Learning is never a bad thing and can always benefit you or others in some way. When you learn it is a good thing and will always be useful someday.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
Having more points of view on a topic is always a good thing. When you have more points of view, you can see your topic from another persons eyes. Having more eyes can help you see if your decision is going to benefit you and others or not. Having a different point of view can also help you narrow down. Narrowing down your options can help you very much and make it easier to choose the right one. When you have more points of view, you can easily choose the right one with others help. Having more points of view can help people in various different ways.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
Seeking multiple peoples' opinions can help influence the way you think and act in various ways. Others' opinions can be very helpful in the way they influence your decisions, teach you about the topic, and give you multiple different points of view. Receiving advice is a good thing because it can influence you in many different ways.

I believe that we do not need to require that all students perform community service. I believe that students that enjoy or want to perform community service may do as they like or choose. Some of the students believe that it should not be available at all but i personally believe that it should be for those who want to. It does take a long time out of the day but also it helps the community all together because that's what it is. Other students like many of my friends, believe that it takes up too much of their time to do activities with their friends and they want it gone all together. so really there is three sides to this but I am writing this letter to tell you that my opinion is that we should have it for those who would like to participate in the activity. And we do not need to get rid of it all together.

What is that thing on Mars?
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
Well, some people believe that it was something made by aliens. I am here to prove that it was not.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
The thing on Mars first was photographed in 1976. It is a huge rock formation that resembles a human face. There are shadows that give it the illusion that it has eyes, a nose, and a mouth. Some believe that it is real evidence that there is life on Mars, well it is not. On April 5, 1998, the Mars Global Surveyor flew over the "Face." The new cameras snapped a photograph that was ten times sharper than the original one. The new image revealed that it was a natural landform. Some skeptics said that maybe the alien markings were hidden by the clouds, but in 2001 a newer image was taken. This image was captured on a cloudless day, so there was nothing obstructing the view. This image also shows that the presumed face was a landform, and not the ancient work of aliens.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
So, in conclusion, the famous face on Mars was a natural landform. This is supported by the pictures taken in 1998 and 2001. The image captured in 2001 could also possibly see other objects if there were any. So, the face not a sign of life on Mars.

Students around the world are forgetting more and more from their past school year, due to their long summer vacation. Because of this, many teachers are debating whether or not they should simply give students teacher-designed projects over the summer, or let the students design the projects themselves. Although some may say otherwise, summer projects should be teacher-designed because of easy plagiarism, and teachers' knowledge on how to deisgn and grade a project.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
One reason why summer projects should be teacher designed is because of how easy it is to plagiarize someone else's project. When i was in the 6th grade, for fun, our teacher assigned the class to design a volcano that had to shoot up as far as possible into the air, made with paper mache, glue, and other accessible materials. There wasn't much instruction on how to do the volcano, as long as we were the ones building it, and the idea/design was original. Most kids' volcanoes looked pretty amateur, with varying degrees of success. However, the kid whose volcano shot up the highest, was disqualified for copying his design and materials exactly from a project someone had shared on the internet.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
If a student can plagiarize someone's work from a project loosely designed by a teacher, then even more students can plagiarize a project that "they themselves" designed.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
Another reason why summer projects ought to be designed by the teachers themselves, is because teachers simply have way more experience and understand the criteria on the topics they teach to students. Often times throughout middle school, my teachers would give the students each other's assignments to grade themselves. And afterwards, we would see in the grade book that the grade changed because the students weren't grading the assignments the way they should have been. The student grading was meant to engage the classroom, but it turned into a showcase of how students dont really know how to grade the way teachers do. If students are unaware of how a project is supposed to be graded, they can not successfully design a project that tests whether or not they understand the material.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
Some people may say, "but allowing students to design their own projects will allow them to focus more on their work during the summer." Whenever I'm given a summer assignment, I know for a fact it I won't even look at the assignment until maybe about a few days before the first day of school. Which would lead to me rushing a lazily put together assignment and a not so good grade. Giving students the opportunity to design their own assignments will lead to students rushing their projects, and justifying it by claiming that the level of quality meets the standards of their assignment.
|
10 |
+
|
11 |
+
It is important to keep students' minds engaged over the summer break, so they don't feel completely disoriented the following school year. I know from personal experience that the break between school years has left me disinterested in continuing to learn and work for the next school year. However, giving students teacher-designed assignments will stimulate their brains and keep them focused over the break.

Have you ever been bored in a class room such as your highschool english classes? Well do to a brand new algorithum made by Dr. Paull Eckman, creator of the FACS(Facial Action Coding System), you can finaly be exited about learning about greek and latin roots. This program can detect how you are felling and in what precentages. In the following paragraphs they will talk about if we should or should not read students faces to make the classroom experience more enjoyable.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
Well to start off the technology has decoded the Mona Lisa smile. You know they one the smile that seams somewhat omanis when you look at it. well this program has determend that the paintings famous smile is mostly happy. The spcifics of the smile are as follows she's 83 precent happy, 9 precent disgusted, 6 precent fearful, and 2 precent angry. This computer software known as the FACS looks adn all 44 major mussles and then makes a decison based on that. How can this be helpfull to schools.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
Now if you actualy like doing greek and latin roots in your english class you may not need this new technology, However you may not like another class like math classes. If we start doing eveything on computers like all of our lessons for example we will probably need this to keep us from not falling asleep during the class.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
If we do end up adopting this new software into our computers it could make us have more fun lessons and make the classes end faster, well do to preception. If the technology could be used with just a webcam then you could just look at your students face and see if they are bored or off task and make the lesson more enjoyable. We could just look at the precentages of the kids facial expressions like how they found out how the Mona Lisa's smile was mostly happy.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
In conclution we could make our childrens classroom experiences more enjoyable. Even if it is a little creepy to have a software that watches you for your whole classroom experience. But it mostlikely is worth it to make shcool more enjoyable for the kids in them.

Do you really thing a land form could make a face ? To me that seems something is very unlikely. A planet that we do not look alike can make a face as a organism on earth? Well i don't think so and here is why.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
The photo isn't clearly shown as a face it just looks like a planets land form.
|
4 |

|
5 |

It may aslo be a feture that is only unique to this palnet like the moon has thousands of craders. I just feel as if Earth has all the water and green grass on it mayb Mars has these land forms instead. Also it might be like how people gaze at the stars or the clouds to see if they make an object or a human face. If you look closley you can see that the

"face" has ridges or canyon. So maybe the ridegs/canyons made the land form that way.
|
8 |

NASA on the other hand and says there is likelyness of a human face. They also believe it is an alien artifac. According to the picture they say because of the shadows it portraies eyes, nose and mouth. They say that in the years that they took the picture it has developed more and more over the spands of years.
|
10 |

|
11 |

In conclusion the "face'' to me is still just a land form. Just because it looks as if it is something could not just be made out of a human face. If they had more evidence then it would be believeable but until then my opnion is still that it is a land form.

Being in a car is how we transport ourselves to and from places. Now what would you do if you had to give up your car. Yes, some people didnt mind giving up their cars but not everyone would be ok with this. We have gotten so used to driving cars that i don't know what some people would do if they had to give up their means of transportation. Its also another factored that what if someone had to drive a long ways, it would take them even longer to get where they're going. Its a very serious topic when you think of how much time one person spends in a car.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
Well Paris has enforced a driving ban to help clear the air of pollution. "On mondays motorists with even-numbered license plates were ordered to leave their cars at home or suffer a 22-euro fine ($31). The same would apply to odd-numbered plates the following day." Many people, in Paris, were fined for driving on the wrong day. Paris wanted to do something about the smog that was surrounding their beautiful city, so they figured if there wasnt as many cars polluting the air then the smog would go away. It actually helped having cars stop driving on certain days because the smog actually cleared.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
"Recent studies suggest that Americans are buying fewer cars, driving less, and getting fewer licenses as each year goes by." American has always had a thing for cars but lately that seems to be a false statement. In the more populated citys, people are using more bikes and less cars. Its easier to get around a city where there are thousands of people on the streets alone. Internet maybe a huge reason why theres less dringing because it feels like your more connected with your friends and family without actually having to go anywhere. The need for cars in the U.S. has gone down dramadically.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
Ever been to a place where there are no cars aloud. Well in Vauban, Germany there is a place where if you want to go there you have to give up your car. "Street parking, driveways and home garages are generally forbidden is this experimental new district on the outskirts of Freiburg." People are happier without the stress of a car says Heidrun Walter. This is a place for clean air and no pollution from the car fumes. As of right now, this experiment seems to be running quite nicely.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
In all actuality, how many people dont realize how long they spend of their life in a car? If one day all cars in the world were banned, how would everyone recate? Some people may want to give up their cars, some people may not want to give up their cars. There are many sides to people giving up their cars. Some people are truly happy and some are not. It may not be that bad, i mean how did people manige before cars were even invented. In one acrtical, it say there is a place where no cars are aloud but it also says that that place is an experimental project. In the end cars are just no as popular as they used to be. is that a good or bad thing, you decide.

My opinion on driverless cars is that they dont have enough support and they are not something that is necessary for our society. I dont think we need driverless cars, because they would cause too many problems and be too much work to take care of. Driverless cars should not be a huge focus in our society, because we do not need them and we should be focusing on being more productive. We should not focus on driverless cars but rather on the safety of the cars and roads we have now.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
Driverless cars could be more dangerous than the dangers we have now, revolving around the cars, traffic, and raidlroads all around us. We already have too many problems involving cars that we don't need to add any more. The people who are involved in creating the driverless cars should focus on making sure that the railroads are safe before trying to come up with anything new. I think that creating theese new cars is already to much work. It would involve creating the sensors, changing the breaks, and making new computer hardware and software. Theese things will not protect us from getting into accidents or having cars crashes which should be our main focus.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
Even though they are taking away the concept of people having to drive the cars they are not preventing anything that could happen or that needs prevention. People may think that having a driverless car would keep them from having to do the work themselves. Whn really what would happen is that they would have to pay more attention to everything around them, which would cause even more work. The cars would need to supervised more than they do now, because they would be moving and need us to take on more responsibility in controling the car. This could end up not working, because the cars could end up going out of our control. Which could cause more problems for us.

Would you change history? Some people think that there some things that were made by our past Presidents should be changed. Such as our Electoral College, people say it should be changed to election by popular vote for the president of the United States. So we shouldn't change history we should keep the Electoral College.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
The Electoral College consists of 538 electors. A majority of 270 electoral votes is requested to elect the president. Our states entitled allotment of electors equals the number of members in its Congressional delegation. Now think about this if we were to go with this changing thing look at how many people would lose thier job. Therefore if the voting was by popular vote instead of by the Electoral College literally anybody could become President if there isn't anybody looking at it that knows what they are doing.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
After the Presidential election, your governer prepares a "Certificate of Ascertainment" listing all of the candidates who ran for President in your state along with the names of their respected electors. the Certificate shows that the winning Presidential candidate in your state and shows which will represent your state at the meeting of the electors in december of the election year. So without the Electoral College to make the decision of the President the governer can't make the "Certificate of Ascertainment" the other people and there respected electors won't get noticed for running.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
Other people think that we should change the Electoral College to the election by popular vote. They think that under the electoral college system, voters vote not for the president , but for a slate of electors , who in turn elect the president. For instance, if you lived in Texas and wanted to vote for whoever, you'd vote for a slate of 34 democratic electors pledged to that person. At the most basic level, the electoral college is unfair. Because of the winner-takes-all system in each state, candidates don't spend time in states they know they have no chance of winning, focusing only on the tight races in the "swing" states.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
The Electoral College is widely regarded as anachronism,a non-democratic method of selecting a president that ought to be[overuled] by declaring the candidate who receives the most popular votes the winner. But each party selects a slate of electors trusted to vote for the part's nominee; however, it is entirely possible that the winner of the electoral vote will not win the national popular vote. There are five reasons for retaining the Electoral College despite its lack of democratic pedigree; all are practical reasons, not liberal or conservaative reasons 1) Certainty of Outcome 2) Everyone's President 3) Swing States 4) Big States and 5)Avoid Run-Off Election.

Well, me personally, i dont think its a good idea for a senator to change to that. I feel ike everyone should remain voting as usaul. If not this wouldnt feel like america anymore; America is all about freedom and the power of free speech....etc. This is what makes this country great; no dictator telling us what to do everyday. Without the power of voting this country would not feel the same. It wouldnt feel like america anymore.

Also, althoughs theres a lot of cons to this, really its just more worth it. It makes people feel impowered. Knowning that they're making an imoportant decision in life. The popular voting process doesnt seem bad at all but i dont think some people would enjoy that very much so.

Limiting our usage of any type of motorized vehicle, would not only decrease air pollution but it would also help with adults or children that may not exercise enough. Also when riding in or driving a motorized vehicle, your could get into an accident. Getting into an accident in a vehicle could have much more fatal result than you walking, jogging, or even riding a bicycle.
|
4 |

5 |

Although walking, jogging, or riding a bicycle isnt must safer than riding in a vehicle. You could be walking along when a stranger may walk up out of nowhere, beat you up, and could hurt you very badly. They may also take your wallet/purse. Depending on who the person is, you could end up with a black eye, cut or busted lip/eye, or anything miner; while if the wrong person gets ahold of you, you could end up in the hospital needing surgery, transplant of some sort, or could even loose your life.

Also, owning a car could could put someone in debt. Falling behind on payments could be devastating to you and your family. When the car company comes to reposses your vehicle, you could end up having to walk, jog, or even ride a bike. So whether you like it or not everything has consequences.

The advancement of technology has allowed for the development of mass communication and the globalization of information that continues to revolutionize modern society. During this modern age, society revolves around technological innovation which brings up the question of whether digitally advancing the education system to better replicate the technological world is in actuality beneficial to students. The educational curriculum that incorporates virtual courses is providing a beneficial opportunity because students won't miss classes due to environmental or structural school issues, they would save a lot of money, and their schedule would be more flexible to account for non-academic opportunities in life.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
Firstly, the primary reasons why schools get canceled and have to plan extra days within the school year is because of the fear of dangerous weather conditions that threatens the safety of the student body. One of the main weather conditions that causes schools to cancel is heavy snow where ice would form on sidewalks and roads which creates hazardous conditions for students who walk to school and for school buses to drive on. The solution for weather cancellation issues is distance learning because students would benefit from having easy access to a mentor who would continue to educate them through the Internet while they are safely at home. Another external issue that can cause harm or cancel school for students is when schools are under reconstruction which creates distractions and hazardous areas within the school that can threaten the safety of the student body. Video conferencing would allow students to simply learn within the peaceful and safe environment of their home without without the fear of being injured or interrupted. Online courses ensures that students' learning process won't be delayed due to external factors to guarantee that students are properly prepared for final exams during the end of the school year.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
Secondly, students would benefit greatly from attending classes at home because they would save a lot money on transportation and on school lunch fees. School expenses would overall be reduced if students are able to attend online classes because some students face the unfortunate circumstance of not having a school bus assigned to their specific neighborhood which means that their parents' car mileage and car fuel are being rapidly used up in order for them to have a source of transportation to school. Online classes, in contrast, would simply require students to walk to a quiet environment within their home to ensure that they can maintain a focused mindset that is ready to learn through either reading an online textbook or participating in a video conference. Another expense when attending a physical school are the school lunches which are priced from one to five dollars depending on the county or school system and can accumulate to an enormous amount of money for middle class students who eat school lunches everyday. Distance learning, on the other hand, would allow students the ability to eat at home without the need for their parents to pay additional fees and students with a variety of health issues or allergies can also control the ingredients of the foods they are consuming to ensure that they are not deteriorating their health. Contrary to what many believes, distance learning courses are beneficial for students whose family are on a budget because the affordability of online courses surpasses the attendance of a public school when accounting for all the additional taxes and fees that are put onto students who are attending a physical school.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
Thirdly, students would have a more flexible schedule that would allow them to account for new job opportunities and volunteering hours. Private and public schools are forcing their students into a regime and strict schedule that takes up the majority of the mornings and afternoons of their students' life which disables them the ability to apply for internships or well paying part time jobs that occur during typical school hours. Online classes would allow students the ability to choose the time for their classes which forces students to practice prioritizing responsibilities and improve on their time management skill. An example of students who mostly work while attending school are college students who have to pay for their attendance and possibly even lodging within the college campus. Virtual classrooms would allow these students to build their work portfolio while also allowing students to return home after work and finish their academic assignments at home during nighttime. Another reason as to why online courses' flexible schedule is beneficial for students is because they would be able to have enough time during daylight hours to volunteer and help give back to their community which builds the morals and social connections with others in the community while also allowing the students to formally engage in academic studies at home after they've finished volunteering. Students would greatly benefit from online classes where a flexible schedule will allow students to have more time to engage in different experiences in life and formulate a more balanced lifestyle that isn't fully revolved around academics.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
In conclusion, distance learning is beneficial for students where it ensures that the students' education isn't hindered by uncontrollable weather conditions and it helps ease financial stress that low income and middle class families experience in a capitalist society. But most importantly, it allows students to have more independence which builds their character and further prepares them for the adult world where they are gradually gaining new responsibilities and experiences in life which they wouldn't be capable of experiencing without the flexible schedule that online courses allow. Virtual education is both effective and beneficial for the rising digital youths of America.

So, in the article "Making Mona Lisa Smile," the author describes how a new technology called the Facial Action Coding System enables computers to indentify human emotions. My job is to carefully read the article and decide wehter or not this technology is useful.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
After reading the article I really could'nt decide. When reading about the FACS the first thing that came to my mind was to use this technology on the faces of celeberties. Why? Well it's because it would be fun to do so. In my opinion that's what it's most useful for in classrooms. Sure the teacher could use this technology to teach students about how advanced the humans have become but..
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
Imagine being a teacher and then one day you introduce the FACS to your students. What do you think the first thing they do would be? I think the first thing they would do is take selfies and let the FACS analyze thier face. Then they laugh at the results. See they are doing it for fun.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
This reminds me of disecting frogs in biology. Some students think it's useful for your education while some other students think it's a waste of time, a waste of life for the frogs and that disecting them in the first place is already digusting. But do they do this for fun. NO they don't. They do it to learn about the oragns of the frogs and the purpose of each organ. But is disecting frogs valuable? Yes in my opinion.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
So, no I don't think it's classroom valuable to use FACS. But that dosen't mean that you should not let them try it. Here's what the teachers should do. They show the students a picture of someones face. Lets just say for example Mona Lisa. The students will stare at the picture for about a minute carefully looking at every part of Mona Lisa's face. Then the students will decide Mona Lisa's emotion by rating her happiness, sadness, anger, digust or any other kind of emotions. Then after that the teacher uses the FACS on Mona Lisa's face to see if the results for Mona Lisa's emotions from the technology is the same as the results from the students. Human vs Technology there you go.

Have you ever ever been required to do a summer project that your not intreasted in? Certain schools in America require students to complete summer projects to ensure they are still learning over break. Students are often assined teacher designed projects. While most students complete these over summer projects many students don't due to lack of intrest in the assined topic. To improve student input schools should move towards student designed projects so students will be more intrested and and involved in the project.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
While a summer project is not something most students would like to do over there break, teachers could allow there students to choose a topic or unit to base there project on. Students can use this to there advantage and choose a topic they were intreasted. Students could learn and still enjoy working on the project. Students also have an easier time working on topics that they have knowledge on allowing them to complete there work easily. Students can take advantage of being able to design there own project and choose a topic or unit that they struggled on through out the year. Working on these weak points can strengthen your skills for next school year. Students can go back and look at past notes and worksheets helping improve there skills in that topic.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
Students being able to design there projects could allow the student to create something they enjoy doing over the summer with friends and family, rather then students thinking of it as another teacher assined project that is boring. Instead they can create something that they think of as fun but still educates them. They could also use this project to study or learn upcoming cirriculum for next year. This would allow the student to get a head start on future units and topics.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
Overall schools that require summer break projects should move towards student designed projects over teacher designed ones. When students have the ability to choose from certain topics and units they can decide what is best for them. Using the project to work on material that they were intrested in through out the year and want to further research and learn about or use the oppurtunity to study material that the student had trouble with over the school year so that they can be caught up for next year. Furthermore students can create projects that will help them with future cirriculum for next year. In conclusion schools should use student designed projects because it allows the student to choose how they want to utilize the time for either further studying a topic, going back and reviewing areas they had trouble in or learning future topics for next school year.

Dear Principal,

2 |
+
|
3 |

I feel that community service is a nice thing to do in our community, but I also feel that you should not make children who do not have the time, or do not want to do community service have to. If a child is to do volunteer work I feel that the student should voluntarily volunteer not be forced to do something by a principal or a teacher. The student would probably not do a good job at what they were doing if they did not want to do it. For example if a student was to tutor a child from an elementary school and they did not want to they might tell the elementary student the wrong answers on purpose because they do not want to be there. I believe that the children in our school have the knowledge to know when community service should be done. I feel that this is a great school, and I enjoy learning here, however I do feel that you should not make children do something that they do not want to do. As long as you have the proper tools to let the students at this school have a chance to do community service I believe that several of them will take that opportunity. I suggest that you put brochures in the office for tutoring sessions, trash pick up, paper routes, and any other form of community service you can think of, so that children will have the chance to do some community service. If not a lot of children in the school take this opportunity then I recommend making community service a requirement to go to this school. Thank you for taking my judgement into consideration.

Dear Mr. Senator,
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
I would like to make a request. Please abandon the idea of the electoral collage. thats a childs game. It is not fair game. The electoral collage sends a certain number of electors to represent a state. Why not let an individual person represent his or her self? it is obsurd that in Wyoming, a state of 500,000 voters, only get 55 represenntitives. It is with great agrivation that i ask you to make this change.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
Furthermore, I would like to state that the electoral collage is outdated and irrational. There is no need for this great mess. The oposition states that the electoral collage is a nessesity for organization. I personally beg to differ. I feel that voting for presidents would be more organized if we counted each individual vote from each individual person. I no longer want to vote for a slate of representitives when it comes time to vote for another president.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
In addition, did you know that there were four presidents that had the mentality to abolish the electoral collage? These presidents, as stated in The Indefensible electoral Collage: Why even the best-laid defenses of the system are wrong, by Bradford Plumer, were Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, and Bob Dole. As well as the U.S. chamber of commerce and the AFL-CIO. they were all in favor of abolishing this horrid electoral collage! AL Gore lost the presidency because of the electoral collage. He had 60% popularity vote.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
Furthermore, I am ashamed to say that each state has its own amount of representitives. We should have a universal number of representitives for each state because it is unfair that a president can lose a presidential election because a state that had an increaced amount of representitives ran against them. I ask you to please vote against the electoral collage for the following three reasons:
|
10 |
+
|
11 |
+
The representitives dont amount to the number of individuals that voted.
|
12 |
+
|
13 |
+
The electoral collage is outdated and irrational
|
14 |
+
|
15 |
+
Each state has an individual amount of representitives.
|
16 |
+
|
17 |
+
In conclution, I ask you to please hear the peoples pleas and abolish this garbage we call the electoral collage. I thank you for taking the time to read this letter and hear what the people have to say about this matter.

Making Mona Lisa Smile
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
In The article "Making The Mona Lisa Smile" by Nick D'Alto how the new technology called the Facial Action Coding System enables computers to identify human emotions that this new technology is valuable.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
The Mona lisa demonstration really intended to bring a smile to your face this while just imagine how a computer knows when you're happy or sad thats crazy. For example, if you smile as soon as a web ad appears on the screen another ad will follow. Lets say that you frown the next ad will be different from the one you smiled on. Another thing a classroom computer can know when students are becoming to be confused or bored.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
How the start of the porcess is when the computer contracts a 3-D computer model of the face all of the 44 major muscles on the model must have move like human muscles. Eckamn has classified six emotions for example anger, surprise, fear, sadness and happiness. Movement for more than one muscle is called a unit.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
In fact us human perfrom this impressive called calculation we use it everyday. For example, you could tell how your friend is feeling by looking at his or her face. most us would have trouble describing each others facial trit that makes us happy or worried. Yet Dr. Huang observes artist like Leonardo Da Vinci he studied human anatomy to help them paint facial muscles to have enough convey specific type of emoitions.
|
10 |
+
|
11 |
+
However the new technology is valuable by telling you how what are your human emotions. For example a classroom computer can show when a student is bored or getting confused. Also it can classified six different motions. Therefore this New technology is valuable for the students in classrooms.

Student Selected Summer Assignments
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
Almost every student knows the dread of going back to school. The easy and laid back summer fads out and suddenly it's back to the old grind. The sleeping in till noon goes back to waking up at six, bathing suits get put back in the closet, and the sun tans fade. Yet, almost every student can relate to the one thing that always keeps them tied to school during the summer, the dreaded summer assignment. It could be a book report or a math packet, either way it burns in the back of their minds while they cannonball into pools. It seeps into thoughts while they try to fall asleep. If teachers gave students the opportunity to discover their own work, and maybe even a passion, students work would be of a higher quality and it might actually have them excited to go back to school.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
When someone decidedly does not like something, you can't force them to like it, no matter how hard you try. That is what it can feel like for students when teachers assign work that is not interesting to them over and over again. There is no way for every part of classwork to interest students, but teachers could make an effort to make the one assignment that no one wants to do over the summer, interesting. When students have the ability to decide what they will study in a project, they are more excited and more willing to get the work done. Having students choose their project will save both the teachers and students from the painful force feeding of information.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
Now, this assignment can not be a free for all, that would not be completely fair. There may be some students who go above and beyond while some may do the bare minimum and call it done. To avoid this scenario teachers could implement some sort of rubric or guidelines for what the student chosen project would have to include and how they will go about grading it. This way the playing field is level and everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
A common issue faced with summer work is the student procrastination. Obviously no one wants to do schoolwork on their vacation so it is common practice to put it off for as long as possible and then rush the night before. Even if there was three months to do it! With a student chosen project, students may feel more inclined to do their work because working on something that interests them won't feel like such a chore.
|
10 |
+
|
11 |
+
The end of summer is not fun for anyone involved, students and teachers alike. Why would we want to dampen the vacation with unexciting work looming over students heads the whole time. Students should feel excited to go back to school and be they should have something to look foward to sharing with their classes. It is common knowledge that doing work that is uninteresting to you lowers your performance and makes the work that much more of a chore. With student selected summer assignments we can prevent that and create a new wave of excitement about returning to school.

In the article "The Challenge of Exploring Venus", it tals about how scientest are working on new technology to overcome the chalanges of Venus and its complications. In the begining of the artical it talks abou how Venus isthe second closest planet from the sun and how it is one of the two most similar planets to Earth. Since it has similarities to Earths' size and density scientest have sentunmanded spacecrafts to Venus to investigate.
|
2 |
+
|
3 |
+
Unfortunatlly no space craft has survived acording to the last two sentances of paragraph two. In the beginning of paragraph three it states how a thick atmosphere of almost 97 percent of carbon dioxide engulfs Venus. The clouds on this planet are also highly currosive with sulfuric acid in them. The planets surface averages about 800 degrees Fahrenheit and the atmospheric presure is 90 times greater than on Earth. This concludes that Venus has the hotest surface tempreature of any planet in our solar system. Venus also has obsticals like erupting valcanos, earthquakes, and frequent lightning stikes on the planets surface.
|
4 |
+
|
5 |
+
With all these complications though scientest still are curious about this dangerous planet. In the second sentance of the fourth paragraph it explains that astronomers are curious because it may have been the most Earth like planet in our solar system. The planet resembles a surface with rocky sediment and includes things such as valleys, mountains, and craters.
|
6 |
+
|
7 |
+
In the fifth paragraph it states that NASA is coming up with possible solutions to avoid most of these issues. One of them is inventing is a small vehical that resembles a blimp floating 30 miles above Venus's landscape.
|
8 |
+
|
9 |
+
Now this doesn't get the scientest what they want exactly what they want because due to the planets atmospher light doesn't peneatrate very well making it difficult to observe ground conditions. It also limits the amount that you would see in pictures and vidoes of the planet. Many researchers are working on new inventions so macheines will last longer on the harsh planet.
|
10 |
+
|
11 |
+
For example in the seventh paragraph NASA states that it has been working on electronics made of silicon carbon and they have even tested it a chamber concluding that it lasted in the harsh conditions for three weeks. They are also recyclaling old ideas from the 1800's, they are trying to use a computor that does calculations, but theinvention uses gears and levers, meaning that it doesn't require any electricity to work.
|
12 |
+
|
13 |
+
Scientest are working hard to accheve this goal to explore this harsh mystery planet. They accept the challanges that come with it and they strive to succeed not only to gain insight but to quench their curiosity that all humans have about this planet and the possibilities that it could lead to.

Also are athletics represents are school if all there are nerd's in athletics how are we exposed to look like a good school that you might not want to play against because there so good. then we might have students flocking here to join a awesome school and I would promise if a majority didn't get their grades up all you had to do was take them out of athletics and put them in a improvement class to help them in that subject. If their grade is above a C in the class after six weeks they would have the right to get out if they wanted to.

you'd be hurting everyone's feelings toward competing. Or you could give athletics a whole six weeks to get their grade above a C and if we didn't then you could put that rule into effect. I mean it's just down right unfair to do something like that to kids who love sports. What if its their passion to be competing against people, drive that out of someone they may never have a passion again.

If i was the principle I certainty wouldn't do that to a bunch of children that their passion was that high for sports. The only thing that keeps them from getting fat all over again. Please listen to the complaints and pleads of the children listen to it. Would you rather deny them and become the one that is known for every boy or girl in athletics and them to complain to their friends will turn them against you in a heartbeat. Would wan' t to be known as the one who everyone hates. If you don't to be known as someone like that than you better do something fast about what has been going around the school. Is there really a new kind of life on mars. No! We are the only life in this universe. Plus if people lived on mars, how could they build such a huge amount of rock into a face so perfectly.

What the picture actually shows is the Martian equivalent of a butte or mesa--landforms. Also back then they did not have that great of cameras but now they do. With the new cameras, we could acually see that it was just a landform with cracks in it. The only reason people think it is a sign, is because of the shadows. It makes up its eyes, nose, and mouth. What, do you think they could make that with their bare hands?

Students have other things to do at home. Many students have a lot of things to do at home and they're already busy with other things. Students have a lot of homework to do from different teachers. For an example students are given a lot of homework and have chores to do at home like cleaning clothes, taking care of their pets, cleaning the house or taking care of their siblings. Some students are already tired from school and might not want to participate in any other activity because they have to wake up early for school and have to do school work really early even though science say that the human brain starts working correctly when it's ten in the morning so that means the human brain of a middle school might not work so well at six or seven in the gosh darn morning. I disagree with the principal that every student must participate in an activity because not everyone is sporty, want to stay inside and do the yearbook or serve on the student council. Some kids just want to go home and relax a bit after doing work at school or some just want to play games to realest their stress of school. I think that students don't need to participate an any sort of activity that has to do with school because people want their minds off of school and not have to worry so much about it. Kids just wanna have fun out of school and don't want to do anything school related. Well most kids don't want anything to do with school once they get home. As I was saying before I got intruded by my brain bring up memes while writing this. I think that the principal should not decided that every single gosh darn student should do an extracurricular activity. Maybe everyone should take a nap for a few minutes...sorry! I'm very tired for some reason so anyways that's what I think about the principal's choice. Many students don't want to participate in activities.

I thnk this because they wouldnt be driving the car the car would be driving itself and that would make people pay less attention. But dont get me wrong it would be a nice and amazing idea if we could all be responsible enough and pay attention so that we dont cause accidents. These cars would also help us from accidents because it would be smart enough to know when there is a stop sign or anything like that.

Some things that could ruin this idea would be if you thought about what if they mal-function and the car crashes and seriously hurts someone. Im sure that the cars saftey system as in air bags and other things would become one of the prime resources if it did mal-function. I feel as if more people would trust this car if there was a percent or something on how efficent this car would be.

Some other major problems would be the price range i mean lets be serious no one wants to spend alot of money on a car that isnt worth it. I think if the car was a little cheaper and was alot more reliable on being able to pull over and stop without human work. the part that is good about the car telling the driver to help is it would keep the drivers alot more on the road then they would be if it could stop and pull over all on its own. One more problem i can see about this is there would be alot more texing on the road then is needed which would proabably cause alot more carelessness when people care riving to then would cause more accidents.
