MALIBA-AI

MALIBA-AI is a community-driven initiative aimed at building and popularizing an inclusive and innovative AI ecosystem in Mali.

Who We Are

MALIBA-AI was founded by AI enthusiasts passionate about advancing technology to benefit Mali’s diverse linguistic and cultural heritage. Our mission is to develop AI tools and systems tailored to local needs, with a focus on empowering communities through research, education, and collaboration.

Our Objectives

Build Solutions for Local Languages: Develop AI technologies such as Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Text-to-Speech (TTS), Large Language Models (LLMs), and Machine Translation (MT) to preserve and promote Mali’s rich linguistic diversity.
Promote AI Education: Provide a platform for intellectual exchange, learning, and skill development in AI and related fields such as Big Data and IoT.
Foster Innovation: Work on real-world applications of AI that address local challenges, leveraging the power of Machine Learning and Computer Vision.

What We Do

MALIBA-AI organizes:

Conferences and meetups to share knowledge and insights.
Workshops and hackathons to solve real-world problems.
Certification training sessions to build expertise in AI and ML.
Data collection and research projects on topics like NLP, Computer Vision, and more.

MALIBA-AI Lab

The MALIBA-AI Lab is the R&D arm of MALIBA-AI, focused on data collection, ML model design, and research. Our areas of interest include:

Natural Language Processing (NLP): Creating ASR, TTS, and MT systems for Mali’s languages.
Computer Vision for Local Challenges: Designing models to address issues like precision agriculture, healthcare, and infrastructure development.
Machine Learning Applied to Health and Environment: Building data-driven solutions for public health and sustainable development.

Currently, our main focus is on NLP and Computer Vision while remaining open to new areas based on community interest.
